SuperSibs! Announces Expansion of Board of Directors
New Nonprofit Board Leadership to Help Vulnerable Children Heal

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL, January 28, 2008 – SuperSibs!, the only nonprofit organization whose sole focus is to ensure that siblings of children with cancer in the United States and Canada are supported, honored and recognized, today announced the election of three new members to the SuperSibs! national board of directors. The new board members are Danica Konetski of ConAgra Foods, Curt Lucas of Korn / Ferry International, and Steve Pazol of Qualcomm Enterprise Services.

"We are delighted to welcome Ms. Konetsky, Mr. Lucas and Mr. Pazol to our esteemed board of directors," said SuperSibs! Executive Director Melanie Goldish. "Our ability to support more than 10,000 brothers and sisters of children with cancer can be traced to the dedicated and professional leadership displayed by our board members over the past five years. Adding these three talented individuals with complementary expertise in healthcare, consumer research and technology, is an exciting leap forward to ensure our ongoing reach and impact serving at-risk children, who are often known as the 'shadow survivors'."

Danica Konetski is director of retail consumer insights at ConAgra Foods. Danica brings with herexpertise developed over the course of her career in consumer insights research, marketing and brand management to ensure SuperSibs! effectiveness providing programs and services to meet the needs of families battling pediatric cancer.

Curt Lucas is a senior client partner and managing director in Korn/Ferry International's Chicago office, specializing in healthcare. Curt’s experience conducting over 300 senior-level leadership placements in the healthcare field, and previous role in hospital administration brings market expertise and outreach opportunity to SuperSibs!.

Steve Pazol is vice president and general manager, Worldwide OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Channel Business, for Qualcomm. Steve’s technology expertise enables humans, machines and technology to communicate and interact remotely with each other. As founder of nPhase (acquired by Qualcomm), Steve’s entrepreneurial experience and technology strengths will contribute to SuperSibs! capacity for continued exponential growth.

Editor’s Note: Each year more than 16,000 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. And each year, 18,000 brothers and sisters of these children are thrust into a world of experiences that leave a lasting mark on their lives. Recently published research indicates that 63 percent of siblings of children with cancer experience emotional and behavioral problems after the diagnosis. Additionally, younger siblings have higher levels of depression and anxiety than the ill child, according to the research.
